Building Your Confidence as a Business Owner

February 17, 2020

We are talking all about confidence today. What it takes to build confidence and how it’s not easy to find the confidence to start and grow a business. Starting seems to be the easy part. But sustaining confidence throughout the journey is a lot harder. So in this episode, we’re talking about tools and mindset shifts that we are practicing in our own businesses to create confidence not only in our businesses but in motherhood as well. After listening to this episode, I hope you’re able to boost your confidence and feel a little less alone.

In today’s show we discuss:

  • Regaining confidence in your business after becoming a mom.
  • How taking the leap and getting started before your ready builds confidence.
  • Expectation vs reality. How much work you can actually get done in a day.
  • Perfection vs confidence.
  • Practicing forgiveness and building emotional intelligence.
  • Avoiding isolation and surrounding yourself with other mom entrepreneurs.
  • Quieting your inner critic & making peace with your weaknesses.
  • How confidence and fear are not mutually exclusive.

Jen Johannsen is a former school psychologist turned meditation educator who helps people decrease their stress and increase their happiness with non-weird meditation. Starting her business was not her original life plan but that has made it even more special for her. Jen discovered meditation as a way to cope with her own stress.

Jen was able to create a roadmap and course to help people access meditation and make it fun. She created her business in order to help people with the same problem she had for years.

Jessica Dutton is a musician, educator, business owner, and professional pep talker. After teaching music in the public schools for most of a decade, she became a mom and decided to build her own “dream job” as an entrepreneur teaching mommy and me music classes. It wasn’t as easy or as straightforward as she’d planned, but five years later, she runs a storefront multi-teacher music studio with a variety of programs while raising her three young children with her Spanish teacher hubby.
